Pricing updates
Change prices per country safely.
Where prices live
| Price | Set in | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| SMPP price per country (MWK and USD, on or off) | SMPP portal staff Pricing page | Direct clients' binds |
| A fixed price for one bind | Staff Binds, edit the bind | That bind only, instead of the country price |
| Wholesale price per reseller and country | Staff Resellers page | What a reseller pays for pool credit |
| Reseller retail prices | Each reseller's My prices page | What the reseller's clients pay |
| Malawi HTTP and dashboard price | The SMS service route MALAWI | Each segment sent over the HTTP API and dashboard |
The public price list at https://smpp.smsyanu.com/api/v1/public/pricing reads the SMPP country prices.
A direct bind with several countries costs the highest of its country prices per SMS. If one of its countries has no price, the bind cannot be topped up.
Change a price
- Check the new price is above what the upstream gateway charges for that country. Selling below cost loses money on every SMS.
- Tell affected clients and resellers before the change, with the date it starts.
- Change the price on the staff Pricing page, for the country.
- Check the public price list and one client's view.
Prices are in MWK by default. If you also show USD, update both.
Credits already sold
Credits are SMS units. A price change does not change credits already on binds or pools. It only changes what new credit costs. A top-up request keeps the price it had when the client submitted it, even if you change the price before approving.
To be confirmed
How the Malawi route price is changed (env value MALAWI_ROUTE_PRICE or an admin screen) will be confirmed when the SMS service is final.
