What is SMS YANU
A short tour of the platform, what you can send and where each part lives.
SMS YANU lets you send text messages (SMS) to mobile phones. You pay in advance and each message takes from your balance.
Three ways to send
| Way | Who it is for | Destinations |
|---|---|---|
| Web dashboard at app.smsyanu.com | Anyone. No coding needed. | Malawi (+265) |
| HTTP API at api.smsyanu.com | Developers who want to send from their own app | Malawi (+265) |
| SMPP at smpp.smsyanu.com | Businesses and resellers with an SMPP client | African countries enabled on the bind |
The parts of the platform
- Accounts live at auth.smsyanu.com. One account signs you in to the dashboard and the portal.
- The SMS dashboard at app.smsyanu.com is where you send messages, see delivery, manage API keys and check your balance.
- The SMPP portal at smpp.smsyanu.com is where SMPP clients see their binds, passwords, allowed IP addresses, credit, reports and top-ups. Resellers and admins use it too.
- The HTTP API at api.smsyanu.com is for software.
Money and time
- The default currency is Malawi Kwacha (MWK). US Dollars (USD) are also supported.
- On the dashboard and API, your balance is money. Each message costs the price of its route times the number of parts (segments).
- On SMPP, your balance is SMS credits. One credit pays for one segment.
- Times in dashboards are Malawi time (Africa/Blantyre, UTC+2). The API returns times in ISO 8601 with a time zone.
