Send your first message

Send a test SMS from the dashboard, the API or SMPP.

Before you start, make sure your balance is above zero. See Payments.

From the dashboard

  1. Sign in at app.smsyanu.com.
  2. Open Send SMS.
  3. Enter a Malawi number, for example +265 99 000 0000.
  4. Type your message and press Send.
  5. Watch the status change from submitted to delivered.

From the HTTP API

Create an API key in the dashboard under API keys. Then run:

curl -X POST https://api.smsyanu.com/v1/messages/send \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer yanu_test_YOUR_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"to": "+265990000000", "text": "Hello from SMS YANU"}'

A yanu_test_ key does not send a real SMS and is not charged. Switch to a yanu_live_ key when you are ready. Full details are in HTTP API.

From SMPP

Point your SMPP client at smpp.smsyanu.com port 2775 with your bind's system_id and password. Send a submit_sm with registered_delivery set to 1 to get a delivery receipt. See SMPP.
